Epic Stories for Everyday Humans

Epic (adjective): to describe something historically important, lasting and complex.

Our Bremer Bay Wedding Weekend. JP & I get married.

This is the story of our wedding weekend in Bremer Bay, Western Australia.

It’s taken me a little while to share our wedding. We are very open and there’s not alot of inhibitions on display in these images and I feel very raw sharing them because of that. You can see all of everything of us.

On the 20 March 2021 I married my best friend, Jean-Pierre.

It’s ironic actually because it is all that I aspire to for myself and my clients – that they can be free in front of me so that I can capture them exactly as they are but it does leave you on display and at times, a little vulnerable. I get that.

But today, tomorrow and in years to come, I’ll be so glad that I can see and feel every moment again in our images.

We planned our Bremer Bay wedding in bed on Sunday mornings over coffee, using brainstorms based solely around what was the most important to us…..

  • Spend alot of time with our people (like camp the whole weekend)
  • Be near the ocean and the bush, just all the nature
  • Be an ode to Australia and all that is wonderful about our Oz.
  • Be really relaxed for us and everyone involved, be completely inclusive … kids and dogs and babysitters welcome
  • Celebrate and supportive Local produce and businesses
  • Be environmentally friendly and respectful and gentle on the earth
  • Share the experience of Bremer Bay’s beauty with our favourites
  • Lots of dancing & pizza

And of course…. loads of photos, real and honest photos that help us relive the story of our wedding day!! I love a showstopper image and I am always on the lookout for those but the most powerful images are the ones with all the feeling.

Our Bremer Bay wedding was everything we imagined, actually probably a little more because it was like 40 degrees that whole March weekend 🙂 #blessedfromabove

Our weekend wedding started on a Thursday night and went until a Monday morning sunrise with my sister and her family … spending lots of time with our loved ones was our biggest focus so the idea of camping altogether at Tozer’s got us so lit up. We are so lucky our friends felt the same way 🙂

We woke up on the Saturday together in our caravan, surrounded by our friends and family. Drank coffee in the sun and prepared our venue together at Tozers Bush Camp.

My parents are both passed and JP’s were in South Africa (covid). We wanted to honour them and our ancestors at our wedding.

Between Albany Event Hire & Albany Vintage Hire we had all that we could ask for to celebrate our love and our love for the environment we live in…. except for the tie dye linen napkins… haha, we had to make those ourselves. That’s another story.

We drove to LeJanos to have lunch with Ella & Reece (my sister and BIL, also photographer and videographer) and my Aunties.

We took our time getting ready…. JP sat with me and we talked while I did my makeup. I knew I wouldn’t like to sit still for 2 hours on my wedding day for hair and makeup and so I learnt how to do it myself. I had information from the best… Carissa, Tammy (Special Occasion Makeup) and Emma Ridgewell. The freedom to be able to move around and be flexible was really important to me on the day.

We made lunch for our family before we got ready together.

Getting ready together was so relaxing and just suited us and the way we are.
We got most of our photos taken before our ceremony so that we had more time to spend with our loved ones.

JP drove us all to our favourite Bremer Bay beach .. Native Dog where our beautiful family and friends were drinking champagne and taking in the views until we rocked up.

Hugs, laughter, champagne and a few group photos after our ceremony.

I also just want to say….. My husband is 100% heaven sent!!! Every single day of my new life is enhanced by being with him. Ruby, Frank and I adore you <3

Thankyou for loving me exactly as I am.

We had a small amount of time to be alone together after our ceremony (and get photos) but we really wanted to enjoy the sunset with our guests so we headed back to Tozers Bush Camp.

We partied out the night (and the rest of the weekend) at Tozers Bush Camp.

Say, what… no sunset photos… of course. We got a few minutes worth… but our main focus was to be with our people and we had a bloody good time doing just that.

If it wasn’t for our family and friends our wedding would not have been what it was. We love you all for your big, wild, open & free hearts. We can’t thankyou enough for picking up what we were putting down and for sharing in our day.

You guys helped to make it everything we hoped it would be just by being yourselves.

Great Wedding Vendors who are committed to excellence and their craft are worth their weight in gold!!!

Wow, I know that great wedding vendors make a great wedding but I’m blown away by how touched I am by all of my dealings with these great people. When you work in the wedding industry you know it’s more than a job but to be on the receiving end of that was pretty special. Without any one of them our wedding wouldn’t have been what it was. We are forever grateful for you all.

Kit from Hammerstruck – a down to earth artist with the sharpest eye for detail who made our rings & handled my simple but particular style with such grace.
